Rental home booking tips and tricks:

Get the best rental value:

  • In the Isle of Palms area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Isle of Palms area. Booking your Isle of Palms vacation rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local Isle of Palms area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have coupons for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • First, have your family agree to vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. ????Casa Margarita???? ~Oceanfront, 10BD, Private Pool and hot tub, Elevator has 10 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the host before reserving the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's a specific Isle of Palms beach you long to visit, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Add the owner's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of concerns.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Upon check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on great reviews to compel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
