How to find the best Isle of Palms vacation home experience:

When to go & When to reserve a Isle of Palms rental home:

  • Book your rental property in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • In the Isle of Palms area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Isle of Palms area travel guides which often include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Isle of Palms area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Selecting the perfect rental home:

  • First, have your group commit to vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. 8 bedroom LUXURY IOP Home with Private POOL & Ocean VIEWS!! Steps from beach! has 8 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property owner before you book the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
  • If there's a particular Isle of Palms destination you crave, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.

More considerations:

  • Store the owner's information in your smartphone.
  • During arrival, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your life at home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
