Tips and Tricks to get the optimal vacation property experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in the Isle of Palms area. To get the best value, try shifting your family's Isle of Palms vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Isle of Palms area visitor guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Isle of Palms visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Finding the perfect vacation rental in the Isle of Palms area:
- Begin by choosing potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. One Block to Beach! Modern 6 Bed with Private Pool has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Isle of Palms vacation rental search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the host before you reserve the property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or costs could be applied to your invoice.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
More tips for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few problems.
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Call the host right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
