Tips and Tricks to get the very best vacation home experience:
Sticking to your spending plan:
- The earlier you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Summer time is high season in the Isle of Palms area. To get the largest vacation home for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Isle of Palms restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Some owners offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Isle of Palms visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides have offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
How to choose and book your prefectrental:
- Start by selecting vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Charming updated 2 Bedroom Beach Cottage. Walk to the Beach! Pet Friendly has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, call the host before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Does your group require specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few issues.
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
- Upon arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peace. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
