How to book the best rental home experience:

Get the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • In the Isle of Palms area, The earlier your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers often offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.

You can also find Isle of Palms area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Choosing the best rental:

  • First and foremost, have your family choose a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. The Surfbird! Adorable house - quick walk to the beach! has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available online. If not, email or call the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.

  • If there's a certain Isle of Palms beach you simply love, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.

  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your life at home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on good ratings to propel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
