Tips to get the perfect Isle of Palms vacation home experience:

Sticking to a rental budget:

  • In the Isle of Palms area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Isle of Palms. Reserve your vacation in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
  • Booking websites typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Isle of Palms visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides have money saving offers on local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Planning and picking a perfect Isle of Palms rental home:

  • Start by choosing your the best vacation week and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. \"Ocean Oasis\" - Newly Renovated! Oceanfront Condo, Swimming Pool, Beach Access has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before booking your home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
  • Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
  • Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Know before you go:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of issues.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • To make sure that no damages are linked to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. Call the rental manager immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a wonderful time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
