Tricks and tips to get the perfect Isle of Palms rental home experience:

How to get the best value:

  • In the Isle of Palms area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Isle of Palms area. Reserve your Isle of Palms vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for local accommodations and attractions.

Planning, selecting, and booking the right Isle of Palms rental home:

  • Begin by selecting the best vacation week and a max budget.
  • SEASIDE BEAUTY
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property management company before you book your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what configuration is right for your vacation.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or costs could be applied to your contract.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More considerations:

  • Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • At Check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to propel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
